By Sam | September 26, 2025

What an incredible weekend it was for the Dream Art Bradford masters team at the Elite BJJ Events National Masters competition! Stepping onto the mats with our largest squad ever, 12 dedicated competitors, we showcased our growth and determination and clinched the coveted first-place team trophy in the Gi division.
A Journey of Consistent Progress
This victory marks a remarkable progression for us: from third place in 2023 to second in 2024, and now standing tall at the top in 2025. The team brought home an impressive haul of 10 gold medals, 5 silvers, and 7 bronzes, proving that hard work, strategic preparation, and unbreakable team spirit pay off in spades.
The prestigious first place team trophy - a testament to years of dedication and teamwork
Whether it was dominating divisions or pushing limits in absolutes, every athlete represented Dream Art Bradford with heart and skill, making this a milestone event we’ll cherish.
Head Coach Craig Tetley’s Reflection
As Head Coach Craig Tetley reflected on the journey, his words capture the essence of our club’s ethos:
“In 2023 we finished 3rd, in 2024 we finished 2nd, and now in 2025 we’ve hit that number one spot. Progress every single year.”
This steady climb highlights the consistent effort and evolution within our team, turning incremental gains into championship glory. Craig also emphasized the collective achievement, noting:
“Between the team, we picked up 10 golds, 5 silvers, and 7 bronzes plus the big team trophy; unreal work from everyone who stepped on the mats.”
It’s a testament to the depth of talent at Dream Art Bradford, where every competitor contributes to the bigger picture. But beyond the hardware, Craig’s gratitude shines through:
“The medals are nice, but it’s the work, the team spirit, and the growth year on year that mean the most.”
This sentiment reminds us that true success lies in the bonds forged and the personal development along the way—values we hold dear at our club.
Coach Rich Quirke’s Pride and Performance
Coach Rich Quirke, who led the competition classes in the buildup and competed himself, shared his pride in the team’s performance:
“This year we took a team of 12 competitors, which is the most we’ve taken for this event, and we managed to take the first-place team trophy for the gi.”
Echoing the theme of growth, Rich added:
“In 2023 we took third place, and in 2024 we took second place, so I’m super proud to have taken first place as a team this year.”
His enthusiasm underscores how this win feels like the culmination of years of dedication.
On a personal note, Rich detailed his own thrilling matches:
“I had a straight final in my gi division master 3 76kg and managed to get the submission just past the halfway point with a triangle.”
Rich also ventured into NoGi:
“I managed to get a kneebar submission, which was beautiful if I do say so myself.”
These highlights showcase Rich’s technical prowess and inspire our members to step outside their comfort zones. Wrapping up the weekend’s vibe, he said:
“Great weekend with a great team and a great group of lads, BJJ, beers, medals, and plenty of laughs. Can’t wait for next year.”
It’s this mix of competition, camaraderie, and fun that makes events like this unforgettable and keeps our community thriving.
